THE OSTEOPATH
ABIGAIL SMITHSON - MASTER OF OSTEOPATHY M.OST
Abigail is a fully qualified and insured Osteopath and is a registered practitioner with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC), having achieved a first class masters degree in Osteopathy from Leeds Beckett University in 2015. After completing this degree Abigail moved back to Gloucestershire where she first discovered Osteopathy 7 years previously as a keen performing artist suffering from a lower back injury. This injury resulted in Abigail experiencing at first hand the impressive treatment effects that osteopathic techniques can have on reducing pain and improving the functioning of the body, both in terms of assisting in recovery from sporting injuries and in maintaining the optimum health of tissues.
Since beginning her studies in 2011 and setting up Stepping-Stones Osteopathy in 2015, Abigail has worked with many individuals of differing ages and physical abilities, using her communication skills and professional knowledge gained to successfully treat a wide range of musculoskeletal complaints. Abigail is extremely passionate about improving the lives of others through the provision of high-quality and empathetic osteopathic care and also have a keen interest, through her 12 year history in the performing arts, in treating performing artists and other sporting individuals.
Abigail is always endeavouring to widen her professional knowledge and skill set through the completion of professional courses as part of a process of continuous professional development. In the past Abigail has completed courses in post-partum treatment, Rock Tape application and ergonomic assessments.
